Paint the Storm

Immediately after hurricane Sandy, I am visiting Riverhead Highschool to create drip paintings inspired by Pollock. The post hurricane offered an opportunity to discuss diversity of feelings and opinions -- as we all reacted differently to the storm and its disruption of our lives. Students created drip painted collages that expressed their personal reactions to the hurricane -- fear, anxiety, disorientation. Other students, unaffected by hardship, said the storm was exciting, fun, and even boring. The program is offered by the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center.

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone in the aftermath of the storm especially families who have lost loved ones.
